There are multiple uses for molasses, such as an appetizer in baked goods, confectionary, syrups, garden fertilizer and animal feeds.

As a livestock feed additive, molasses is sprinkled over dry minerals or unpalatable feeds, especially low quality roughage, enticing livestock to eat the feed.  This results in fast, healthy weight gain or greater milk yield.

Other uses for molasses include:

  • providing a carrier for non-protein nitrogen and vitamin (liquid)
  • binding for pelleting
  • reducing dustiness in a ration (liquid)
  • stimulating rumen microbial activity (42% recommended)
  • providing minerals (cane molasses)
  • blending ingredient used in ethanol gasoline
  • fire ant repellent
